Unintentional weight loss is when you lose weight without changing your diet or exercise routine. It can be a sign of stress or a serious illness. It’s important to get it checked if you’re losing weight without trying.

Unplanned weight loss and malnutrition can be a particular risk for people later in life, for a variety of reasons. You can find out more, including tips for looking after yourself or supporting a family member or someone you care for to eat well here.
